WFTD: Following Christ For Joy

Hopefully you all are well.  One of the most interesting parts of following God is simply that – He does not call us to specific rules, He tells us instead to stop following the world’s wisdom / pursuits, and to follow Him.

Mark 8:34 – “And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”

Jesus’ knows the sinful state of man, and that sanctification (progressive forming into the image of God in holiness) does not happen overnight.  He simply says that for us, who believe, that He is God in the flesh, that He made atonement for our sin on the cross, and God raised Him from the dead (He raised Himself proving He IS God, and His sacrifice was full and acceptable) – for us who believe and hope in Him alone, He doesn’t seek perfect people, only followers.

Following Christ isn’t easy, and at times it can be painful.  Following Christ may mean losing friendships, losing family members, losing your personal freedom, or even your life.  Here’s my encouragement to you – the whole earth, the whole of creation in the universe, cannot contain the glory of God that is to be revealed to us.  Every day, every decision, every step is drawing us closer to our God, if we love Him, and follow Him.  Hope you all have a great day!

Grace and Peace,
Adam
